Places to eat in Auckland Central
There are many places to eat around the Cordis that are close to the conference to suit any
budget.
We have included a range of cheap eats and fine dining options to suit differing culinary tastes
and budgets. However, there is also a good range of tourist information online.
Auckland also has a website called “First Table”, where you can get 50% off a restaurant
reservation by booking an early table. You can find more information here.
On Karangahape Road (the main road that runs along the ridge above Queen Street)
from Grafton Bridge [opposite the Cordis] across Spaghetti Junction to Ponsonby
The White Lady
The White Lady is an Auckland institution, which has operated since 1948. It sells a range of burgers. It’s located in St Kevin’s Arcade.
Sagrado Cantina
Also located in Saint Kevin’s Arcade, Sagrado Cantina is rumoured to be one of Auckland’s best secrets in terms of Mexican food. The menu is inspired by chef Jorge’s grandmother Mama Lety.
Lowbrow
Lowbrow is also located in St Kevin’s Arcade. The menu includes hot chicken, burgers and beers.
Uncle Man
Located further down Karangahape Road is Uncle Man, which specialises in Malaysian cuisine.
Coco's Cantina

A favourite haunt of our former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Coco’s Cantina serves pizza, pasta and Mediterranean food crafted from local produce.
Elliot Stables (located in mid-town, near SkyCity on Elliot Street)
Elliot Stables is located just off Wellesley Street, near the intersection with Queen Street. It features a range of restaurants, including Italian, Vietnamese and Japanese.
Jungle 8

Jungle 8 serves Vietnamese food inspired by Ho Chi Minh city. Most dishes and drinks are priced at $8.88. The restaurant is jungle and neon themed.
Bao Baby Bao

Also located in Elliot Stables is Bao Baby Bao, which specialises in Asian fusion food. The menu includes dumplings, noodles, bao and pork belly.
Queen Street
Tanuki's Cave
Hidden down underground next to the Auckland Town Hall is one of Auckland’s greatest Yakitori and Kushiage bars. The venue is incredibly popular and is walk-in only.
Michelin Restaurants
Recently Michelin came through Auckland, and we have our first one star restaurants.

Ahi

Located at the bottom of Queen Street in the Commercial Bay area is Ahi, a Māori restaurant that combines traditional flavours with contemporary cooking techniques.
Tala

Tala is the world’s first Michelin Samoan restaurant, and is located in Parnell (a suburb that borders central Auckland city). Tala also made the list for TIME Magazine’s 100 World’s Greatest Places.
Mudbrick

Mudbrick is a winery located on Waiheke Island, which is a short ferry ride from the bottom of Auckland CBD. It is also a vineyard, and a wonderful place to stop if you decide to do a winery tour of Waiheke Island. Further information on Waiheke Island’s vineyards is available on the Discover Auckland page. If you choose to visit Waiheke, and you can handle two meals, Tantulus Estate Restaurant also has a Michelin One Star and specialises in French cuisine
Dessert
Giapo
Giapo deserves a special mention for its extraordinary ice creams in any visit to Auckland. Located near the Commercial Bay district of Auckland CBD, it is the home of artisan ice creams that range from $11 to $39 a serve. The store became famous for releasing a new flavour every day and for a few years following its opening had people queuing around the block to experience its highly unique desserts.

Churchill

Churchill is a gin and cocktail bar located on the 20th floor of the Sheraton Four Points Hotel mid-Queen street (roughly opposite the Auckland Town Hall).
Queens Rooftop and Wineshop

Down the very bottom of Queen Street, and with a Narnia-like entrance that requires you to pass through a tiny wine shop is Queens Rooftop and Wineshop. The venue offers 270 degree views of the Waitemata Harbour and also serves contemporary European cuisine.
Dr Rudi's Brewing Company
You can find excellent and sunny views of the Viaduct Harbour down at Dr Rudi’s. This is a popular spot, so if it is a weekend booking a table is recommended.
Tanghui Karaoke

Located around the corner of the Cordis is a futuristic sci-fi karaoke bar, which is $35 per person during Happy Hour from Monday to Thursday and includes a rice meal and a soft drink. The bar has been around for many years, but has had an upgrade to create an immersive environment. While this is not fine dining, it is a cheap and entertaining option for those who like to sing with colleagues and have a meal included at the same time (disclaimer: no ANZMAC staff have been here, but it was profiled as good value by food influencer NZ FOODIE @foodiestablenz).
Places to eat in Albany
There are a range of restaurants located close to the Massey University campus. The mall across the road has a food court with many options. In addition to this, here are some of the restaurants worth checking out in Albany.
1981 Noodle House
1981 Noodle House specialises in hand-pulled noodles from Langzhou, combining Chinese dishes with local produce.
Khong Thai Kitchen

Authentic Thai cuisine located close to the mall. There is no website for this restaurant but you can find information about them on Google Maps.
Burger Fuel

Gao Asian Fusion

Located next to Hooton Reserve in Albany, Fields Cafe is a family-friendly spot with a fenced playground. It serves Atomic coffee, all-day brunch, Asian-fusion dishes, and fresh baking.
Khun Pun Thai Restaurant
Located on Corinthian Drive near Westfield Albany, Khun Pun Thai is a relaxed local restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine. Its menu features traditional curries, Pad Thai, sizzling stir-fries, and extensive vegetarian options.
